Research Interests:
Marjeta is a folklorist primarily interested in the embedding of folklore phenomena within broader social, cultural, and political contexts. Her research focuses on processes of folklorization, festivalization, and heritagization, as well as other ways in which cultural practices are established, reshaped, and used in contemporary settings. She pays particular attention to folklore phenomena and heritagization processes in peripheral areas and to marginalized folklore genres, through which she analyses relations of power, visibility, and valuation within authorized and unauthorized heritage processes.
