Between 27 June and 1 July 2026, the Postgraduate School ZRC SAZU will host a study visit within the international Erasmus+ CBHE project SacredTravels4Growth. In Ljubljana, we will welcome the lead institution and project partners from various countries who are engaged in research on pilgrimage, sacred places, and broader questions of religious tourism and cultural heritage.
The study visit programme includes a range of academic activities, including workshops, thematic seminars, field visits, tours of heritage sites in Ljubljana and its surroundings, and presentations of research approaches in the fields of anthropology, heritage studies, and religious tourism. Among other activities, a MOOC workshop, a walking seminar, as well as film screenings and discussions will take place, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and best practices among project partners.
A special public event will take place on Monday, 29 June 2026, at the Gosposka Hall of the ZRC SAZU Institute of Geography Museum (Gosposka ulica 16, Ljubljana), featuring presentations by lecturers from the Postgraduate School ZRC SAZU representing three study modules: Anthropology: Understanding World-Making Practices; Heritage and Heritage Processes in a Critical Perspective; and Migration Studies. Prof. Dr. Špela Ledinek Lozej (Migration Studies and Heritage and Heritage Processes in a Critical Perspective), will shed light on the significance of pilgrimage and sacred sites from anthropological and heritage perspectives.
